Review

When Jibin Madhavan (Soubin Shahir) is informed that he has had meningitis for a week, the movie “Romancham” opens with him only half awake in the ICU of a Bangalore hospital. For the first time since losing consciousness, he is informed that no guests are permitted to see him due to his health. Jibin insists on seeing his friends or being moved to a different room, but the doctor makes it clear that he won’t be leaving the intensive care unit until his vision gets better. Jibin is eager to see his buddies as though he has to tell them something crucial. He tries to con the nurse who is on duty into allowing him to enter the room, but she is not duped by his tricks. Jibin appears to be highly antsy and insists on meeting his pals as soon as possible. Jibin tells the nurse about his recent experience with the supernatural when the nurse asks what must be the precise cause.

Seven of them reside outside the city to lead respectable lives. Residents of the home include Jibin, Rivin (Anantharaman Ajay), Niroop (Sajin Gopu), Shijappan (Abin Bino), Mukesh (Siju Sunny), Karikuttan (Afzal PH), and Soman (Jagadeesh Kumar), all of them are making an effort to get by. Only Rivin & Karikuttan have full-time work; the others are simply making ends meet. Niroop is awaiting an appointment letter from an IT business, which he is hoping would improve his life.

Ouija

Jibin dislikes that the lads frequently turn to playing volleyball in the evening since he is unfamiliar with the sport. He deflated the ball one day out of malice and went to a friend’s house. He observes a group holding a séance using an Ouija board at his friend’s house in the hopes of connecting with a spirit they can communicate with. He brings a carrom board and sets the scene for a séance after realizing that the group may perform this activity at home as a group activity. The gang chooses to support Jibin’s suggestion to make the evening even more enjoyable.

Being the most devout of the group, Rivin is unwilling to participate in anything as evil as Ouija, which he considers to be anti-Christ. The men started their search to see whether the ghosts would appear and respond to their queries after excluding him from the Ouija board activity. Jibin and one of his roommates, Shijappan, start moving the glass on the board by themselves to fool the other participants into thinking the séance is working when Jibin realizes no spirit has descended to move it as they start their séance.

The Spirit

They begin posing queries as the séance goes on. The rest of them begin to think that the ghost is a woman after Jibin and Shijappan suggest the name, Anamika. As they continue to interrogate her, Anamika begins to respond correctly. Answers that only Jibin and Shijappan are technically aware of. Their pals start to enjoy their séance segment. One time, one of their pals inquired about the pet cat. They bring their game-savvy friend with them, but things also go wrong with him. All of them comply when Niroop, the only decision-maker at home, decides to put a stop to the annoyance once and for all. These individuals are sick of observing the detrimental effects of playing Ouija at home and interacting with Anamika. They wish to put an end to all the strange and undesirable events that have been occurring, such as their ongoing arguments and Rivin’s conscious mind’s interference. The board had to go, that was the only obvious fix. However, now that this one annoyance has been eliminated, Jibin’s buddy Sinu Solomon (Arjun Ashokan) comes to live with them since lately he experienced an episode that no one in the family can resolve. They beg Jibin to make sure Sinu remains with them for a long so they can offer him a change of environment. Simple-minded Sinu is a friend of Jibin. But as Sinu’s stay progresses, he begins to act strangely, such as talking to someone in the middle of the night and looking at a wall until he feels physically shaken. When Jibin and his pals begin to notice his peculiar behaviour, they keep their distance. Jibin kindly requests that Sinu leave their house, and Sinu complies.

With Sinu gone, Anamika’s ghost begins causing damage to their house as several strange and unexpected occurrences start happening once more. Rivin begins to lose track of the route home once more, and Karikuttan ends up losing his job at the fuel station because he carelessly fills someone else’s petrol tank with diesel accidentally. Karikuttan is also unsure of what caused him to lose focus and make careless errors that cost him his job. Everyone at home starts to feel the effects of these happenings, and they are certain that something is strange about them ever since they started playing Ouija board games. They all become insane and attempt to flee their house as quickly as possible. Jibin, on the other hand, suffers from a severe fever that turns into meningitis just because of stress.

Jibin is admitted to the hospital as a result of the sickness, and as soon as he starts to feel better, he is moved to a room. He tells the nurse that before passing out from his fever, he last saw the ghost of a woman slipping into his luggage. Jibin is shown in the final scene of “Romancham” requesting his pals to get the bag when he is told that Sinu is back in town to support Jibin’s recuperation and that he would be grabbing the bag for him. There was a chance Jibin hallucinated anything before passing out due to his extremely high temperature. There is no guarantee that Anamika is present in the house, therefore they have nothing to worry about. Or even if she did exist, Sinu’s presence at home would have negated her influence. Throughout Sinu’s time at the men’s homes, there weren’t many significant events. The viewers will undoubtedly gain more insight into the events that occurred in their Bangalore house in Part 2 as well as the long-term significance of Sinu.
